Our Story

Partners Johan and Andrea, opened Majuba Country Lodge and Majuba Bistro in 2020

After many years of traveling, we finally settled in beautiful Albany. This marked a new phase in our lives. Both passionate about food, wine and luxurious design, we wanted to create something together.

After building our home in Kalgan, we teamed up with artists in South Africa and local creatives to bring a special accommodation experience to Albany… Majuba Country Lodge.

A few months later, we opened Majuba Bistro. As a professional Michelin-trained chef, Johann knew he could bring a wholesome, quality food experience to Albany.

Why "Majuba"? We chose the name because of the Majuba foothills in our home country of South Africa. The open-air and sense of freedom we found in Albany reminds us of back home, so we bring a bit of our history to the Great Southern.

Majuba is a creative project we never thought would happen. But here we are, against all odds, living a life we thought we would only dream about. We are so happy to share this experience with you!
